I'm guessing Tobias because in the Sinnoh League he used a Darkrai and nobody was able to defeat it except Ash.

To me it's not cheating if they allowed it. And they knew he had a Darkrai before he even entered, I'm pretty sure. Even if not, if he wasn't disqualified in the first match, somebody approved it.
...my guess is Cynthia, since she knew it wouldn't make a bit of difference to her... and it clearly didn't.

probably it was ash himself that didn't register the title since it was shown up until his last visit to alola that he himself hasn't acknowledged the weight of being the Champion. it took a whole stadium cheering for ash to get the point across that he's also representing them.

I won't get tired of that cheering moment. It really gets you hearing all that support for Ash after everything he's been through to get to that point.

And the final moves being Z-moves between that Pikachu's exclusive Z-Move and one Alola's Guardian Pokemon...

Either way, They definitely notice Ash, especially after the over the top move his Lucario pulled out against Raihan.

Now, I don't mind leaving Alain to be slaughtered afterwards, but I'd put him in the 2nd bracket pair, so he can win, and THEN get his Charizard utterly trounced in the semi-finals. I'd have him fight Diantha or Steven.
Cynthia and Lance will be in separate brackets. Ash will either fight Lance, or he'll fight Cynthia first. These two... we want Ash to fight them. and what better way to say he's ready to face Leon, than to face the previous Finalist of the World Championship, and what the majority of the Pokemon community considers the hardest VG champion, Cynthia.

I would't mind Bea getting in the master 8. Would be much better seeing her battle with her Dmax.

Correction if you watched the special carefully Charizard barely survived the Legendary Pokémon assault.

The only 2 pokemon that got me hyped during their battles are with Pikachu, Infernape, and Greninja(too bad we couldn't get to see a chance to see ash's other previous pokemon a chance to get into action or fight). Even though Greninja was being Lucario's tutor, he showed such a fine improvement and moves.

Tobias vs Leon would've been more interesting than Alain vs Leon

Nothing would be interesting vs Leon, UNLESS, we got a full episode dedicated to it. Instead we got less than half, and instead of Iris going down in flames, we get Alain going down like a bitch.

Good thing we'll get an entire episode dedicated to Ash vs Leon in the future

If it wasn’t for the Rilaboom vs Chesnaught bit , this would of been a real contender for one of the worst battles of all time. I don’t even like Alain but they nerfed tf out of him if his Charizard is getting one shot by Base Dragon Pulse, that battle was gabarge.

Really man that mega zard x of Alan defeated Bond Greninja and got piped down so easily by Dande's zard.
They want to make Dande zard as the "overwhelming op" but atleast show some respect to Alan

Bro I stg Alain Charizard survived a Dragon Ascent from Mega Rayqauza in the Mega Evo Specials, how did one Dragon Pulse knock it out, it’s just so bad and rushed literally all his mons got one shot

To be fair dragon ascent is a flying type move but agree Alan got hella nerfed in this battle

It was a rushed fight cause they left half the episode for pomp instead of battle so they rushed instead of like the old days where a battle could spread between two episodes. Iris who we KNOW would lose to Cynthia should have been the sacrificial lamb. The next match shouldn't be Lance vs Diantha, but Alain vs Steven. Alain victor and then a full battle for him to get his ass kicked by Leon.
